I woke up last Thursday morning feeling like a child with a hundred wrapped presents at her feet. Because Wednesday’s rehearsed reading of the quantum physics play, BOX, was an utter joy. The marvellous audience let me record the Q&A, so I can use their feedback as I work to complete the script. Here areContinue reading “We All Have A Magic Gun…the quantum play lives…!”
Just a very quick cheat of a posting: click here for the first update for supporters of the quantum play. News on our support from Old Vic New Voices Lab, how we beat the fundraising target by 25%, a piece in Arts Professional on what not to do and the skinny on this month’s bigContinue reading “A quantum of an update”
I made a film! I’m relentlessly asking people for MONEY! And it’s all about that terrier of a play on quantum mechanics (what? you missed me talking about it? Let me help you out: The heartbeat of an onion, Developing this oniony play – in pictures, and Gnash, gobble, splat: the sounds of a new script hitting the genre wall)Continue reading “Raising cash with Upsy-Daisy & the Quantum Suicide Rifle”
How DO prodigiously creative people do it? We all have the same hours in the day. We have the day job, the lovely people in our lives and then maybe stuff like making music and art and enjoying other people’s! Rather than wonder / despair and feel inadequate, the only way is to see myselfContinue reading “Buzz In & Out”
Was leaving politics for writing a major mistake? Have I in fact been amassing a different kind of army, preparing a stealth attack with my pen, ready to take them (whoever they may be) from behind?
Very excited to say the quantum mechanics play, Box, has a twinkle in its eye. After some generous and insightful industry feedback over the summer, it’s having a rehearsed reading on Hallowe’en, as part of the work done by Brighton University’s Performance and Community Research and Enterprise Group. What’s that? It means I get to workContinue reading “Box: development update”
Ha, make em laugh, eh? More like, make yourself laugh. I just spotted an old post from a year ago: The Awful Art of Unwriting. It’s a confessional, where I admit to not having done a new spec screenplay (as opposed to a play) for about 5 years. In the last year, I’ve written three: one comedyContinue reading “1 year on; 3 new screenplays & a magic cauldron”
I’m not entirely sure why but er, um, I haven’t written a speculative screenplay (plays, I have done) for err, um, five years. There you go. I have no more secrets. What the merry heave-ho have I been doing? ‘Cos I’m pretty sure I call myself a writer a lot of the time. There’s beenContinue reading “The Awful Art of Unwriting”
I had a horrible realisation the other day. I haven’t had a show on stage for a year and no new work’s been on-stage since a personal train crash….Never under-estimate the impact of a writer’s daily life on their work.
I’m catching up on the quantum script after moving house. As you’d expect, I had put the annotated script “somewhere really safe”…. far too safe, it turns out. Almost four months later, it was still “lost but obviously not lost”. Panic was forbidden. It was just not lost. Right? The irony of this is not lost,Continue reading “Leslie Crowther & The Red Pen of Time”
