I may well be talking absolute rot, but it seems to me that a great way to drive yourself to write drama and then get it looked at is to enter competitions.
You’re less likely (in my probably naive view) to be wasting any credit you might have with producing theatres, and the deadline side of it really appeals to me. Also, there are quite a lot around and if you have the time and inclination to write something bespoke, to a theme, that directed constraint can be a real spur.
The open season on competitions seems to be ending (summer got hectic as well as costly where electronic submissions were not accepted), tho’ some interesting stuff is coming up soon. Check out the links below for the most up-to-date competitions, if you’re interested.
